Joseph Altuzarra
French-American luxury women's ready-to-wear clothes designer Joseph Altuzarra was born in 1983. In 2008, he established his company, Altuzarra, in New York. His multiracial upbringing and global fashion education have an impact on his brand. The 2019 Met Gala evening's catwalk showcased his creation of a women's evening gown. In the first season of Amazon's Making the Cut, Altuzarra served as one of the judges.
Biography
Born in Paris in 1983 to a Chinese-American mother and a French father, Altuzarra is of Spanish descent. Both of his parents work in investment banking. He spent eight years learning ballet as a young lad. Altuzarra received a B.A. in art and art history from Swarthmore College. Before starting at Proenza Schouler, he worked as an intern at Marc Jacobs after moving to New York. Altuzarra next worked as an apprentice for former Rochas atelier patternmaker Nicolas Cato in order to hone his technical construction talents. Later, Altuzarra relocated to Paris where she served as Riccardo Tisci's first assistant at Givenchy.
